Established in 1996 by Michael Heaton MIFA IHBC  and formally trading as Archaeological Site Investigations ('ASI'), Michael Heaton Heritage Consultants provide professional and technical support in the planning and management of works affecting archaeological sites and historic buildings.

Commercial and social property developers, utilities companies, parochial church councils, leading conservation organisations such as The National Trust, local and national government and their agencies, and private individuals are our clients. Most of our work is repeat commissions or referrals from delighted clients.

Client needs are our principal objective and, to that end, we are leaders in the application of construction management practices to archaeological consultancy: Archaeology and historical analysis are our tools, not necessarily our primary objectives. Heritage issues can be a burden to commercial property developers or the owners of historic buildings, but they can also provide bountiful opportunities and added value to development and refurbishment projects alike, when managed properly.

As an indicator of the range of services we offer - and the interests we enjoy - we maintain an irregularly updated selection of project summaries. However, please bear with us if the page appears static from one month to the next: our current workload leaves us precious little time for promotional work!  A selection of our more interesting projects are reported in greater detail on our Significant Discoveries page.
